Blue Sky, plus Equinox, plus a Red Nose, plus Litter pickin, plus Plus Fours on Two Wheels and More!
Has summer arrived?? Well, not quite, but it’s been a damned nice week and now, We have a Weekend!
I hope that everyone has been able to get a few hours out in the sun, as after such a gloomy wet winter, it’s been an absolute joy to see Blue Sky for five mornings on the trot. It is also the Spring Equinox today (20th) which means the day-light is as long as the night-dark , so it’s not long now, until the clocks spring forward.. at friggin last!! And as for being warm, that is just sooo nice!
Ok, so what’s happening this weekend, apart from the Fun Fair that is now on the Adur Rec. Well, tonight kicks off with the Comic Relief Show, as it’s been Red Nose Friday. Greg James has survived his Tandem bike ride around the UK (bet his butt is sore..) and it’s amazing how much he’s raised for doing so, with the current figure standing (as he still is..) at just over £4M. It was nice to see that Prince William hopped on the back for a part of Gregs journey.. never any pressure having a Prince along for the ride! I think most would agree that Red Nose is a pretty good charity, so please donate if you can, as every little bit of Sterling that those with a happy, lucky life can spare, could make all the difference to someone’s not so lucky life. Don’t forget the SSSi Clean up Safari, arranged by the Friends of the SSSi, which takes place tomorrow morning from 10am. See the previous but two posts, for the link to book your spot. It will be a morning well spent and I’m sure you will learn something about what people like to chuck away and what the wildlife thinks about that… wouldn’t our world be so much nicer without crap everywhere.
Sunday, it’s the Pioneer Run. Old motorcycles and even older gentlemen will be heading our way. They start at Epsom Race course, with the first bikes departing at around 8am, then they will partake in a loo and coffee stop at Leonardslee Gardens, near Cowfold, and then ‘burn rubber’.. amongst other things.. as they make their way down the A281, branching off at Henfield onto the A2037 (the state of the road on the hill out of Henfield will not be appreciated..) and finally the A283 from Upper Beeding down to Shoreham Airport (aka Brighton City Airport). If there’s nothing else in your diary for the morning, it’s usually a good spectacle and will be alive with characters and machinery from years gone by. As for on the water entertainment.. well, that’s up to you and could well depend upon the weather, so here’s the weekend outlook and tide times!
Saturday, 10-15kt Nor’East during the morning and then going East 6 – 11kt for a period after lunch before returning to Nor’East during the late afternoon, so nothing to write home about. Tide hits High at 12.36hrs on a sizeable 6.4m (they had better be quick picking up the litter, if starting at 10am J ). Plenty of water up the River, if a paddle to Shermanbury was being considered.. as no rain forecast and a sunny, 12°C, day.
Sunday, 7-11kt Nor’Nor’East during the morning and then going all over the place, direction wise, at 4-7kt for the afternoon. Not a lot to get excited about if wind is your pleasure. Should be another dry and pleasant day with 12°C once again. Tide is High at 13.14hrs on a 6.35m, so another perfect day for river excursions!
And that’s definitely enough for this Friday evening. I’m off for what I hope will be a less muddy walk across the fields than in recent ‘months’ , but will be back with another Shaky Vid in the morning.. if all goes well. Keep your eye on Tuesday, if you are waiting for the next blow..
Ta’ta.
PS. If anyone picked up a pair of specs, in a case, outside the shop, yesterday evening or today, please contact us, as the person that’s lost them would love to have them back.
