Bring out yer Dead, Promote our Waves, PWA was PBA plus Saturdays rippin.. hopefully.

It’s Friday evening and after a blustery day, that at times has been rather ‘grim’.. it’s the perfect Halloween start to the 1st weekend in November!

And just as a point of note, November was known as the frosty month in years gone by but there’s no sign of that this coming week or as far as some of the forecasts go, as it’s staying close to 13°C, which is fine by us…roll on warmer winters.

After a month of wave contests, kicking off with the Kernow Foil Classic, followed by the infamous Aloha Classic, the equally infamous Tiree contest and then of course by last week’s Witterings Wave Classic, it’s all looking a little quiet on the entertainment front for the coming weekend. That is unless the BKSA Kite Wavemasters is on (anybody know?)  or you follow the rugby, as there are four Internationals on this Saturday. England versus Australia is likely to be of interest, so much so that it might even be holding up video footage from the Witterings event, if the BWA Instagram page is to be believed. I for one, am really looking forward to seeing the action from a week ago, being that it was a local event and one which enjoyed great conditions, which makes a change! Almost as good as going back to the days of the PWA events in Brighton (think it was PBA in those days), which started 31 years ago..  Omg.. here’s a link to remind you .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfSGagdD2Fo

Maybe it was just me but it seemed to be very difficult to get any info from the WWC event and as it was a full National Windsurfing competition, you would have hoped the action would be served up in large portions via Social media... surely promotion is the best way to gain sponsorship for the following years event and for the sport. If you saw how well the 2025 Aloha was promoted, you’d have to agree, that was very well done.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FsDq1NHACE

Or maybe it’s the Sunshine that does it for the Aloha.. anyhow, I can’t hang around ‘rambling’  this evening, as have serious trick or treating to be getting on with.. so, what’s the Weather for this coming weekend?

Saturday, rain showers continue all day, if the Met have it right, with Sou’West winds ranging from 12-24kt during the early morning, 14-28kt by midday and then dropping back to 11-22kt by late afternoon, which is fine, as it will be dark. Windguru are up on the windspeeds, with 18-33kt as their top spot.Top Temp is 13°C, so reasonable for the time of year. Water temp is given as 14°C, which is about right, if maybe slightly below the average (water temp at Lancing was allegedly 11.8°C one evening this week but that was in the shallow water). High Tide is at 07.19hrs on a 5.2m (low at 13.25hrs) so ok for Shoreham.

Sunday brings heavy rain and strong winds in the early hours but that will have passed by the time most people have stirred.. their morning tea.. and by 9am 8-23kt West with Sun is what the Met say,  Windguru seem to agree. The wind speeds will dissipate throughout the day before cranking up again during the early hours of Monday.. perhaps a call to the office claiming a nasty bought of Flu, after the Half Term with the kids! Sundays High Tide is at 08.14hrs on a 5.6m (14.25hrs Low) so better still but sadly no wind, if they are right. Sure you will be able to find something to do.

And that’s it for Half Term Week and for Halloween 2025. May your evening be full of many treats and of few tricks. I’m back tomo, with a wet and windy Saturday morning shudderingly bad vid.. ah come on, you will miss it when it’s gone. Have a great evening all.. TTFN
