Dry one Wet one, Winter Medal on order, Surf'SUP and the Power of LOVE!
Oh my, we’ve almost made it through Friday the 13th.. but there’s something even scarier on the cards.. it’s Valentines Day on Saturday! So much pressure, but at least it’s the weekend.
Yes, how unlucky can you get, when one day, which is associated with bad luck and the other with ‘errors of judgement’, are right next to each other! No pressure there then...
But apart from that, the weekend is looking ok, should you like a bit of cold and dry and a touch of wet and windy. So, it’s short and sweet tonight, as I have to compose a damned good verse or two, to try and clear up the last 365 days of not being a good Valentines! And now, whilst on the subject of being good..
Anyone looking for a stable Wave Sup? A customer has contacted us with regard to selling his rather gorgeous Wood Composite Naish Mana GTW 9’5” x 32” 163lt SUP, as he’s also been a bad Valentine and is just not using it. The boards a 2020 model in very good condition (only the usual paddle strikes on the rails and light chips to the fin tips) and comes with a leash, as well as a rather nice matching Naish Performance 85 2-part paddle, also in good condition. Price when new was £1600 for the board and £229 for the paddle, so a crazy £595.00 for the pair is a bargain and as Jan is local, you won’t have to go far to have a look. Give Jan a call on 07779 788456 if you are interested and if you’d like to view it at the shop, I’m sure we can arrange that. No true reviews for this board, as far as I could find, but I think it would suit anyone who has had a reasonable amount of time on a SUP and has always fancied trying surf SUP. You could also use it as a flat-water board but it will drag a little, due to the rocker line (wave orientated boards have a curved underside to stop the board from going too fast when on a wave face). Pics of the little beauty are on Facebook Link Here!
I see that we are still not ‘logged’ on to the Medals table for the Winter Olympics but ever hopeful that me we might get our hands on at least one, of any denomination, over this weekend. Seems a little odd that a country who has been associated with ‘sliding downhill’ winter sports for many years, probably as a British chap, Sir Arnold Lunn, invented the modern form back in 1922, has slackened its grip in recent years. Good luck to those who compete for us!
Ok, weekend weather alert.
Saturday, the day of Lurve.. we have a brisk and chilly 8-12kt wind from the North (MET say gusts of up to 32mph). Day temp is 6°C tops but likely to feel more like 3°C. At least it should be dry. First cold day in a while and I think it will make a noticeable difference, from the recent ‘warm’ weather that I’d like to say we’ve been enjoying, but the rain has affected that particular statement. I guess the Northerly maybe useful on the estuary for those practicing on their wing foils, if they really feel the need , but you will have to be up early, as High is at 9.08am and only a 5.0m. You could be out possibly at Seaford or on the reservoirs, at Bewl and Weirwood… or you could stay warm and wait for Sunday.
Sunday, is back to wet and windy, with the day kicking off with wind from the South early morning, 19-26kt and then veering slightly Sou’West at midday, 18-23kt, before going West in the late afternoon 13 -23kt. The MET say slightly less on the wind stakes but most forecasts agree on the rain, all day, although it may become showery as the day moves on. High is at 9.55am on a 5.4m, so by 1pm it should be do-able at Shoreham. Keep your eye on that as it could change. If right, Monday is looking good.
More wet and windy weather to come..
And that’s it for this week. Did I say short and sweet? I hope your week went well and that the weekend is full of joy.. but it won’t be if you forget the FLOWERS!
(Other gifts are also acceptable).
