Hello Heat my Old Friend, Pryde Sails are on Sale again and soon the roads they will be closing, so no time for dozing!
Evening All. Heat has returned and just as you were starting to get used to the heat and humidity, it’s going to change (much to the joy of a lady who was verbally revelling in todays cooler period during the morning). Why is it we can’t seem to have a settled period of dry, warm weather.. when we can have a 7 month settled period of rain and cold weather?! Anyhow, another 7 is the number of days since I last ‘blogged’ and that must mean that we are once more at the Weekend, so let’s get on with whatever the weather we have.
It seems that our athletes in France are doing good, especially Emma Wilson in the Ladies Windsurfing (looks like she should get Gold.. racing delayed until tomo) and currently, when I checked at 13.26pm, we were fourth in the overall medal tally (using the Olympic system of Golds won, rather than the American system of total number of medals won). Anyhow, I won’t go on about the games, as you can find out all you want to know from Google or the Beeb.
Neil Pryde have started the end of Season Sales by adding a further discount to try and clear their 2023 wave sails and their Free Flight Foil sails at discounts of up to 43%. The sails are on our website but we will need to check the stock (we can do that ‘online’) as all of the sails are held at Pryde Germany. Best be quick if you are interested!

They are also clearing their JP 2023 board stock and there's a list of what's currently available on the website.. at 50% off!
The advent of foiling has certainly knocked the ‘old sports’ , as most of those now foiling were kite and windsurfing customers ‘past’, hence the sales of those sports having slowed right up (the companies must feel as though they have done a spot of foot shooting).
If you come along to the shop during the week, please don’t think we are closed due to the cherry picker parked in front of the shop, as the building is being decorated and it’s been there for the last three days (they have moved it for the weekend). We are Open!
Not much to report on the local front for this weekend, that I can think of, but there are evening road closures going on in the next week (5th to 9th ), so if you do stay at the beach ‘late’ (after Eight..) you may find the road to Steyning is shut. OK, here's the weekend weather and tides, as time to get out of here while the sun still shines!!
Saturday, wind is in from the Sou’West, 16-20kts in the morning and then 20 – 27kts during the afternoon. Top temp is around 21°C and earlier today the forecast was showing it as wet at times but now it says dry (I am beginning to think that they really don’t know..) so don’t be surprised if we do get the odd shower. Tide is High at 11.40hrs on a 5.7m, so great for the estuary and either a dawn patrol for the lighter winds or around 2pm onwards for an afternoon session, if you prefer the lower tide launch.
Sunday, currently the wind is shown as being Nor’West 8kt 1st thing and then backing Sou’West 9-18kts during the afternoon. Tide hits High at 12.23hrs on a 5.39m, so you will be missing Sunday Lunch if you are heading to the estuary for a foil or paddle work out. Whether the wind will be strong enough for the afternoon on the sea session, we will have to wait and see but the morning could be good for Sera SUP. As for the ‘weather, Sun and a top temp of 20°C to look forward to!
And that is that for another week in 2024. I can’t believe that we are now into August.. summer is rushing by, as are the precious long evenings, so it’s Goodnight from me!
