HOT or What but the Weekend will bring Summer Solstice Joy.. and wind!

And yet another Friday evening arrives and once again we can use that glorious word, which is ‘Weekend’ .. and it’s looking really quite good!

After a week of very nice summer style weather with flocks of people making their way onto the beaches, it seems that the UK is not such a bad place to be after all, even though I hear many voices saying ‘ it’s too hot now’ ! It’s hard to please everyone all of the time but as with our business model, you have to try.  This weekend is doing it’s best by being a weekend of two halves, which should in theory keep the smiles going. One thing to ignore though is the fact that today, the 20th of June is allegedly the longest day but officially tomorrow, the 21st,  is the Summer Solstice, which means that by Sunday we’re all on the slippery slope back towards dear old winter (you did say I would mention it Suzy). But apart from that fact,  what is there not to like!

For those of you heading our way on ‘Hot Saturday’, if you need skim boards or bodyboards or those inflatable things you stand on (or kneel on, depending upon how well you pumped it up..) or perhaps a new paddle or a shorty wetsuit, to help with the ‘fresh’ water or a swim buoy or swim goggles or even a dry bag or a pair of those under a tenner beach shoes, to stay looking cool when walking over the pebbles and also to ward off the lovable little Weever fish…  we can help!

For those of you heading our way on Sunday , if you need a new boom, sail, board, foil, harness, kite leash, pump, wingboard or even a wing package or a set of harness lines or an impact vest or a fin bolt or a waterproof case to put your car keys in.. just about anything to do with wind.. Yes, we can help!

I guess that that sums up the weekend of two halves.. light winds and a possible 29°C on Saturday for the beach lovers, then a cooler 22°C with strong winds on Sunday to keep the wind addicts happy. DON’T FORGET THE SUN SCREEN on both days!! Here’s the forecast and tide times.

Saturday, 9-15kt Sou’East pretty much all day,  which should be a warm wind with generally less ‘power’ than you think but could be enough for foils and big kites. Sunny periods with a top temp of 29°C (re. the MET, Windguru say 21°C). High Tide is at 07.46hrs on a 5.3m, so there will not be a huge amount of tidal movement. Book the Barbie for Saturday evening..errrr..  see last paragraph!

Sunday, sees a rather more ‘vigorous’ 11-26kts Sou’West in the morning to get things ‘dawning’ and by early afternoon we could see 15-30kts, which will continue right through until Tuesday if the forecasts are correct. Met say 21°C but Guru are 17°C.. 4 degrees matters! High Tide is at 08.55hrs on a 5.4m, so if you are doing early doors head to Littlehampton or Worthing and if it’s an afternoon outing, then Shoreham by Sea is the place to be.

And that’s it from me for this week, which has been a very long one with James being off and it also being he hottest week of the year.. not that I noticed,  being in here all day. Hope everyone has a great Solstice and please do not burn anyone in a Wicker Man on Saturday night.. even if some people in this world probably do deserve it. Let’s keep Summer HAPPY!
