I'm still here, Neils and Zoe still there, SYC SUP Stops, Naish Clearout and D Day is Eighty.

There goes the Half Term and even though I was not able to take my vacation, the weather must have missed that fact and continued with the ongoing drudgery weather patterns… thankfully we have another Weekend ahead to cheer us up!

Not just here though, Neils and Zoe Larsen of the long-gone Magic Touch sail and board company, which was based down in dear old Penzance, are ‘holding up’ at Rott Island in Norway, waiting for a forecast of three good days of weather to sail their yacht Zonika across the North Sea to the UK. They sailed to Norway from their home in Denmark, during a nice spell of summer weather but now it seems that they can’t get that three-day break in the weather they need. So, it’s not just here and depending upon which forecast you look at, the story is so different. One today shows that a storm from the Azores will hit us next week with heavy rainfall possible across the South of the country and the other says that we are in for the start of more settled weather, with a mini heatwave. How do you deal with forecasts like that… toss a coin?

Fancy a trip to a wild part of the world but can’t seem to find the cash? Why not go along with three Mystic riders who recently tripped to the Baia dos Tigres in Angola (obviously Tiger Bay but no Tiggers in sight ). I've not had a chance to watch it all today, as it’s a 15-minute journey but what I’ve seen does look good. You can get on board here..

Naish have a bunch of Matador LT 2023 Wings to clear and they will arrive UK end of June / start July. The Matador LT is a windowless wing designed with low swing weight in mind and therefore if it wasn’t really needed, it isn’t on there. These wings were made just prior to the 2024 version being launched which now has hard handles, so they are pretty much the same as the 24 version and some of them were modified to the hard handle spec of 2024’s but it turned out to be more expensive than making a completely new wing, so they decided too ‘clear’ them instead. A 4m comes in at just £339.00, a 5m £359.00 and a 6m at £369.00, so if you have a preference on colour then please let us know ASAP and we can reserve it for you (we have Blue or Yellow coming). They are on the website, should you wish to view.. https://www.surfladle.com/wingsurf-wings/new-wings/naish-s27-matador-lt-2023

Sad news regarding the Shoreham Yacht Club Stand Up Paddle School, as it has been disbanded due to the majority of booked groups (via Eventbrite website, who still take their commission come hell or high water) having to be cancelled because of unsuitable weather conditions during this and last summer. It’s very sad, as it was a premier location for those that wanted to learn the sport, as well as those who like to paddle with a more social aspect at the end, as the club offered a safe location and the use of the shower and bar facilities to members. All good things come to an end but this one seems a little premature.

I think that’s enough to keep you going for tonight and if I’ve forgotten anything that I should have mentioned, I will add it to the SMS (Saturday Morning Shakes) video post, as I’m not away from the Mega Store until Monday. Now for the Weekends weather... but should I bother?

Saturday, the wind is from the North at 13-24kts, with no rain ‘forecast’ but broken cloud and a top temp of 19°C, which I can assure you feels more like 12°C at the moment. Tide hits High at 07.04hrs on a 5.2m, so it’s up early if you want to do a little estuary foiling or paddling..  or you could have an easy paddle out to the Windfarm, but I’d book a boat trip back. ONLY KIDDING.. please don’t!

Sunday, drop the windspeed to 13-19kt, add a touch of East into the Northerly wind and voila, we have a re-run of Saturday! Tides High at 08.15hrs on a 5.3m, so up early again if you want to go for a paddle. The Flyover Boot Sale will kick off for 2024 ( it was cancelled last Sunday) and I hope that does go ahead, as the weather will be dry.

And that’s it for this week, apart from mentioning that next Thursday is the 80th Anniversary of the D Day Landings, which were the beginning of the end of World War 2. If I ever get depressed about stuff, I try to imagine what those guys must have gone through and then I realise just how lucky I am. Theirs was a truly great achievement but for many the cost was to forfeit a life.

Enjoy the weather, have a safe weekend and be happy that I won’t be writing anything next Friday..  promise!
