It's not all about the SUN, it's more about the kit.. and the change in the weather!

It's not all about the SUN, it's more about the kit.. and the change in the weather!

And still the sun shines! It’s been a bit like living in a desert, freezing cold overnight and then ‘quite pleasant’ during the day.. and as for the way a Nor’East wind can blow for week after week.. our ‘predominant’ Sou’West winds could definitely learn a thing or two from it. Oh well, as least it’s the Weekend.

And for you tonight, it’s all kit related, just for a change.

We start with The Mystic Evolve wetsuit. Why Evolve? Well, this is another attempt by a manufacturer to push forward and try to reduce the amount of petro-chem in their neoprene products. The Evolve is 90% Bio-Based (all ingredients are on the website listing) and that’s a big step forward. Not only is that a ‘green’ improvement but it may also bode well for many peops who suffer skin irritation from normal neoprene’s (we’ve seen it.. within seconds of putting a suit on they are covered in a rash). Of course, it may work the other way, where people who are not affected by normal neoprene are by Bio suits but that’s not known, at the moment. The suits are available in 3/2 and 4/3mm versions, for both Ladies and Gents. We have the 4/3mm Gents suits in stock (perfect for a Spring -Summer UK style – Autumn), so you can come along and get touchy feely if you wish and then we can order in another variety.

We are down to our last Red Paddle SUP board Bargains. We have one Ride 10’8” Hybrid paddle package left, which is a board designed for heavier riders, rider and their kids or dawg or for those lighter riders who struggle to get to the ‘stand’ position, as indicated in ‘SUP’. It’s a 2022 model, which is the same construction as the current boards but with a different graphic and it ‘s supplied with a composite shaft Hybrid paddle and pump, bag etc. as per the 2025 versions. Price is just £589.00. https://www.surfladle.com/inflatable-boards/red-paddle-co/red-paddle-ride-108-blue-2022

We also have what is possibly the last Red Paddle Whip wave board in the UK, as the only others I can find on the net are of an earlier type and £50.00 more expensive if bought with a paddle. £699.00 for hours of fun.. https://www.surfladle.com/inflatable-boards/red-paddle-co/red-paddle-whip-810

In the Used selection.. anyone looking for an almost new Ezzy Hookipa 91% carbon 370cm mast, in a padded bag? We have one..  and it’s priced at £289.00 which is only a £1.00 more than a new Ezzy Legacy 60%, so you can choose! (The Hookipa is pretty much the same weight as a Legacy but the extra carbon content will open and close the leach far faster, to spill those nasty wind gusts, which is quite important on a 370cm). https://www.surfladle.com/masts/used-masts/ezzy-hookipa-rdm-mast-370cm-imcs-17-used

And still in Used, we have taken in a 2022 F-One Rocket Wing foil board. It’s a 5’5” x 27” 88lt in the Bamboo construction. Perfect for a super lightweight newcomer, as you will need to be around 50kg but more likely suited to a progressing or skilled rider who is looking for a smaller sized board. It’s in VGC and comes with a Mystic bag..  https://www.surfladle.com/f-one-rocket-55-bamboo-wing-foil-board-2022-used

Ok. Now we go to the weekends weather outlook and tide times.

Saturday, it appears to be the start of the end of our glorious SUNNY spell, as although the winds are still in from the East at 11-14kt and then backing Sou’East during the afternoon 14-20kt, the clouds will be heading back our way during the late afternoon..  and it’s a sign of things to come. High Tide is at 12.11hrs on a 5.9m, so if that wind does make it around the bend and up the river, foiling could be poss. SUP will be, whatever.

Sunday, is a cloudy day but no rain shown as yet and here’s the answer that ‘Woody’ wanted to hear today.. the winds are backing around to Sou’West!! Both Guru and the Met agree on this and whereas Guru say 15 – 22kts during the afternoon, Metty say 12-28kts! Looks like it will stay dry until Tuesday but by then we are back to Nor’East winds, which is just typical as it’s the day off and they reckon we will have rain in the afternoon. Tide on Sunday is High at 12.42hrs on a 5.9m.

And that’s it for this weekend. I’ve probably missed loads of stuff that’s going on locally and if that’s so, please add a comment saying what it is! Have a wonderful half term weekend, whatever you’ve got planned.
