End of the week, end of a Storm and the Bank Holiday weekend is about to start and the weather is looking … typically Bank’Holiday’ish!
Dear oh dear, if the summer holidays were ‘quiet’ then I hate to think what the last two weeks of if will be like with this weather pattern. I am sure there were many of you who were overjoyed with Storm Lillians performance during Wednesday and yesterday , as the strong winds coinciding with warm water and air temperature make for a fun day for most windsports. If you took today off to catch the tail of Lillian then you may have been a little disappointed, as the wind is a lot lighter than they forecast, with only a high of 19kt but what a mess ‘she’ has made of campsites and the festivals that were all planned for a ‘summers weekend’. Not sure the forecasters got it right until the last minute (I’m sure I read that they did not ‘rate’ the storm until Thursday evening), as the wind speeds were only shown as 26-34kts on Wednesday evening when I got home after getting a quick hour on the water. Lancing anemometer showed a gust of 49kts at 6am this morning, which would coincide with the strong winds that brought trees and branches down further inland. It really did not give people much warning to add a few ‘heavy weights’ to the tent guide lines (do they still use guide lines? ) or tie down the stage equipment. And if that was not enough, there’s more to come for us in the South, with a heavy rainfall forecast for Saturday morning, which means you might get a Saturday morning video taken from inside the van. Sadly, the wind coming with it is not forecast to be of any use.. well, currently it's not. Now don’t you just love British Summertime!

Talking of festivals and dance music, a local ‘lad’ is trying to get into the scene and has recently released a track on You Tube. He is going under the name of Stalicious and does everything apart from the vocals (apparently that all gets done ‘online’ nowadays.. when I was a muso we’d just ask a pretty girl if she could sing!) so please give it a Like if you are impressed by the effort, even if it’s not your genre of music! It will help no end and if you can pass the link on for more likes, that would be fantastic.

Kit..

The launch of 2025 kit is about to start and our first New Windsurf Board from Starboard arrived today.. for a very nice gentleman from Bournemouth. It’s a new Kode 95lt in the Carbon construction (no Woods being imported this year)  which still has a Kevlar layer in the most important areas, to make them ‘bullet proof’. The 2025 board update is said to be mainly graphics but I did notice a couple of small changes, so I’m sure Starboard have tweaked things, as and when they find a way to improve the boards. Price for 2025 is £2399.00 and most sizes are now… available! Sadly though, we cannot publish the pictures I’ve taken until the official launch which is September 2nd, so until then you will have to guess what it looks like!   And if anyone is interested in a 2022 Goya One 95 in VGC, we will be trading one in on Sunday. Still a few Wing Packages at £1399 if you are thinking ‘now’ could be time for you to foil and we still have the infamous inflatable SUP’s from just £299.00..  get out in that rain and have some fun! What’s next…

Our weekend opening for the August Bank Holiday is exactly as it has been since 1994, so I’m sure you will all remember,  but in case not its’ Sat 9.30 - 5.30pm, Sun and Mon 10.00 – 4.00pm.
Right, running late now so I’m going straight to this long weekends weather and tide times..

Saturday, we have a yellow warning for Rain, from 4am through until 2pm with the heaviest due between 9am through until 1pm, with 1.6inches from 11am to midday.. yuk. Winds are Nor’East 10kts throughout the rainfall period and then switch to the West’Sou’West 10-15kt for the afternoon and increasing to 19-26kt.. when it’s dark! Tide is High at 15.23hrs on a 6.3m so I guess we could be on a flood alert after the heavy rainfall. Temp is 16°C.

Sunday, looks to be a much nicer day, with wind from the West 11-14kt first thing and then backing Sou’West 20-27kt for the whole of the afternoon.. wouldn’t that be nice! No rain shown at the mo but I won’t be surprised if we get a shower or two. Tide is High at 16.05hrs on a 6.1m. Temp is 17°C.

And finally, Monday, which is staying with a 14-2kt Sou’West wind but there is a chance of rain first thing and then again early afternoon. I hope that is wrong as we could do with a nice happy Bank Holiday Monday. Wind is Sou’West 15-20kt all day but dropping off late afternoon, so you can all get the BBQ  out to wind up the last Bank Holiday of the year. Tide is High at 16.55hrs on a 5.6m. Temp is 18°C.
Before I finish up, I would just like to mention the sad passing of a local builder called Dave Keene (it may have been Keen) who built Ferry Waye Court, which is the building that houses Surfladle, back in the eighties. His funeral took place today and it was a bit of a shock, as I was only chatting with him a few weeks back. A lovely chap and he will be missed by many.
And that’s it for another week. I hope everyone has a great weekend and you know where to find us should you need anything.
Toodle pip!
