More Rubber. less time, More wind but not at the right time!

More Rubber. less time, More wind but not at the right time!

And yet another week that brought more wind and rain than was our fair share (well, that applies to the rain..) but after a glorious Friday in the sun, the weekend looms once again and it’s not looking.. bad?

I hope that you’ve all had a good week and that the bodies are not too beaten up after even more days of hi-wind antics... not that anyone would complain of course!  I guess there are those that would love to have a few calm days to go paddling, before the summer ends,  will be feeling peeved but that’s the nature of nature, I guess. No sign of the Indian Summer either, at the moment.

Last week it was the £30.00 wetsuit bin (still suits in there) and we had hoped to have had time and room to start a further range of clearance wetsuits but that went by the by. We have however added a range of Clearance Ladies Shorty and Overknee suits to the website, which are in the shop and can be purchased without shipping!

Link is https://www.surfladle.com/ladies-wetsuits should you be interested!

If you are looking for a wetsuit (men’s or ladies) do ask, as we will do what we can to get you a bargain.

Apart from another windy and wet weekend, the only activity in our area that I can see is Nik Baker and the Duotone team will be over at Worthing Watersports on Sunday for a launch come demo of the latest Wind, Kite and Foil kit for 2026. Timing is 11 am through to 2pm, to coincide with the High tide.. but I do hope the current wind forecast is wrong! Demo’s have a nasty habit of…

Weekend weather time.

Saturday kicks off with a 7-14kt Sou’Sou’West wind, which slowly increases during the afternoon but it could be verging on dusk when the wind kicks in on a Sou’West 18-28kt and then 24 -32kt during the evening.. what a waste if that’s correct! The Met are more optimistic and say that it will be 12-22kt during the afternoon but agree on the timing for the stronger winds to arrive. Rain showers possible during the afternoon but should not be heavy. Tide is High at 11.26hrs on a 6.1m .

Sunday, aggh!! Wind is from the North, 6 - 15kt during the morning and then increasing 10 – 23kt Northerly for the afternoon. Rain showers likely from midday to around late afternoon. Bothe Guru and the Met agree on the wind but Guru say rain later in the day. Top Temp is 15°C (time to get the 4/3mm wetsuit out.. I won’t mention that Trevor has just bought one!). Tide hits High at 12.04hrs on a 6.3m.

Even though the tide is great for the river, North winds are not great for foiling (too short a run across the river) and make paddling hard work, unless you do an inland drop off and paddle back with the wind ‘behind you’.

Sure everyone will find something to do.. We know what we are doing, as back in here tomo from 9.30am, with another Saturday Shakes video for your pleasure.

Have a great evening and an even greater weekend!
