Roses are.. Cold Water rolls.. Whale snacks.. kite v plane.. FBC land and much much Muller more!
Roses are Red.. Another winters week done and still Life in the Fridge continues. Thankfully we did get to see the Sun today, as this cold overcast flat lining weather does make you feel just a tad dreary but with a bit of luck, we may get to see more of the Sun over the next couple of days, as it is the Weekend!
The flat lining weather has caused the BWA Cold Water Windsurf comp to roll over into next week, as the conditions were not playing ball with only light and cyclonic winds due over the next couple of days. If Guru are correct, there is not much happening on next week’s roll over dates either.. fingers crossed that the weather changes . There does appear to be a change in the weather happening locally though, from mid next week on but as our forecasts seem to suffer with just the 24hr outlook, I think we should just keep an eye on it for now. I don’t want to say anything and scare it off!
It's been a week of not quite the norm news, forgetting Mr Trumps phone calls and the Chancellors ever changing CV, with a very modern-day Moby Dick occurrence, which just has to be the weirdest event captured on a Go Pro type camera.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzy8-3qp4so
and prior to that we had a kitesurfer jumping over an aircraft.. what is going on! )https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fr1VhWJv_9I
Hats or rather helmets off to the pair of them, as both were taking ‘a bit ’ of a risk!
FBC, who make the accessories and bags for foiling, have received their first shipment of bags for 2025, so the availability at this moment in time is ‘good’, should you be off somewhere in the near future and have yet to sort the kit ‘carrier’. We’ve sold through the Large size of their Travel Bag (other sizes in stock at the shop) but they maybe still available from FBC, so let us know if you need one ASAP. They also now have stock of their Travel and Day Bags for the Mid- Length boards, as per the Downwinder style (the Travel are on our site and will add the Day Bag shortly), so we should be able to get them by the next working day. They now also offer a Wing Quiver Bag, for those that have a board bag sufficiently tough for travel and just need a bag for the rest of the kit. Product info coming on that one, so we will add that to the site ASAP (we should have a quiver bag at the shop by next Wednesday). Price is around £140.00. You can see the FBC products here.. https://www.surfladle.com/search/products?keywords=FBC
Now, this is not written in stone but there’s a chance that Balz Muller ‘may’ be dropping in at Surfladle this March, around the 14th we believe. Mr Muller, in case you have not heard of him, is an amazing Swiss waterman who has excelled in the world of Foiling.. and is also a World Champion Windsurf-foiler and.. a very good landscape gardener! If anyone is interested in meeting him for a chin wag, let me know and I will update you as soon as we find out more. If the weather is ‘right’, you may even get to see him out on the water. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQNqW5g1yQY
Ok, time for this weekend’s weather.
Saturday, wind from the Sou’Sou’East 10-18 kt with an air temp of 5°C (both Guru and Met agree) will make it another brisk day due to the wind chill (friggin freezing here today). Guru say overcast but the Met say sunny periods.. neither say rain! High Tide is at 13.06hrs on a 6m, so there is a chance to get out from the beach at around 3.30pm and the estuary will of course be usable over the High Tide, should you nay feel the cold!
Sunday, the wind backs round to the East 10-22kt and the air temp rises a degree to 6°C. Should we be excited? Again, they say broken cloud with no mention of rain. High Tide is at 13.23hrs on a 5.9m. What else can I say.
And that’s it for Friday the 14th February, the day of Love draws to a close, which has apparently been celebrated for over 1500 years and was once a Public Holiday in the UK. We hope yours went well and may Love reign down on the whole wide world, even if it’s just for a day. We should be so lucky…
