September's here, Hayling's on, SUP's get lower and £30.00 Wetsuits.
If you wanted a week with epic wind and waves (and rainfall) then this week you got it! If you wanted a weekend with the same, it’s not looking very likely.. but it is still the weekend. Happy Days!
So, September arrives, Summer ends and Autumn definitely arrived, with a bang, almost too much of a bang, thanks to the temperature drop and amount of rainfall received in the last five days. I guess it was ‘only to be expected’ after the long dry summer of 2025 but still quite a shock to the system (jeans were required on Tuesday!). But the sun is back for the weekend, as are the Sou’East winds, which should be enough to make the Round Hayling race do ’able and fun for all taking part and organising the whole thing, as it’s an iconic event. Must get round to doing it!
No current sign of the ‘Indian Summer’ that some of the weather pundits are trying to make a headline with, in fact it might be back to wet and windy weather for next week (Wednesday on, looking best) so I hope no one has booked a camping trip.. well, not in the UK! You can always trust a long-range forecast.. to bring something totally different.
The stock of inflatable SUP boards that has been blocking the shop window is finally ‘down’ to a reasonable level but we still have ‘bargains’ to be had, so do check the website if you are interested in one.. or give us a Call of course. We can haggle over the price!
We are finally getting round to starting old stock cleardown and first thing to clear will be the wetsuits that are still new and usable but probably no longer warrantable, so we are going to have a £30 collection (on a rail or in a box) which will be appearing in the shop shortly. Due to the small amount of revenue this will raise, we are not going to list them all on the website, it will be only available to walk in customers.. sorry! I will post when they are ‘in place’.
Time is moving on, as it always does and I am determined to get out of the door before it’s dark, so here’s the weekends weather and tide times.
Saturday, Sou’East 11-20kts during the morning and then East’Sou’East 13 -23kts in the afternoon. That’s re. the Met but 16-25kt re. Guru. Dry and sunny with a top temp of 20°C. Tide is High at 11.08hrs on a 5.9m, so Shoreham will be good for river paddling from 9.30am through to 1.00pm and wind sports launching should be good from approx. 1.30pm.
Sunday, Sou’East 13-24kt during the morning but then switching to South by mid afternoon 11-20kt and then Sou’West by early evening 9-15kt.. that’s according to the Met but Guru say the switch to South takes place early afternoon and 13-21kt Sou’West, when it has. Should be sunny spells with a top temp of 20°C and the tie hits High at 11.48hrs on a 6.2m, so another good tide for river paddling and possibly foiling, all be it a ‘short run’ across the river.
And that’s that for another week. No news to pass on re. what’s happening with the Megastore at the moment but we will update you, as and when ‘news’ is available.
May your weekend be just as you would like it and back with another Saturday Morning Shakes, in the morning, How apt! BFN
