Start the day with a walk plus a late shop opening, more fins than we need and you can get a Head!
Ahoy there! (original start…) It’s Friday evening, it’s already getting dark, so the week is almost over and your weekend is about to begin. Could it get any better!
And you can kick yours off with a guided tour of Shoreham's SSSI on Saturday morning (sorry for the rather late call) . I think Sam is likely to be the guide but I cannot be sure from the info that’s on their Facebook page. Tickets are on Eventbrite (link below) and it’s free, but please take a tenner with you, as they do ask for a donation at the end of the walk (less than £5 an hour and you will learn a lot about the estuary).
Please make a mental note about this coming Monday as the shop will be late opening, due to James having an appointment with the teeth drillers, so don’t come along until after 10.15am please (I will post another reminder over the weekend). SHOP OPENING LATE ON MONDAY!!
We are currently stocktaking and coming across items that are not on the website, in particular a plethora of windsurfing fins. We will be adding a list to the website shortly but if you have a particular need, let us know and we will see what’s available at a good price! (You can see a bigger pic on Facebook.. click here!) . We also found a Starboard Tuttle Head to Foil Plate adapter, so if you have a windsurf foil but fancy trying it on a tracked board, now you can. Click Here for the link!
It’s been quite odd during the last few weeks, as we’ve had so many customers drop by to say they’re sorry to hear that we can’t take anymore.. J and some we’ve not seen for aeons as they’ve moved away themselves but felt it only right to come by to say Au Revoir (not that we are ‘free men’ just yet) and to chat over old times. Looking back.. there have been a lot of old times but they’re all great memories and it’s been the people that have made it such an interesting place to be.. we stood still but the World revolved around us. No news as yet regarding the life expectancy of the Mega Store but we are still passing information with interested parties (National Trust etc.), so we will update everyone when we know more. If you do have credit with us or kit in store for re-sale, don’t worry as we have not forgotten and will be contacting everyone ASAP. Ok, time for the weekend weather and those exciting High Tide times!
Saturday, well, I proffered last weekend’s forecast for this weekend, which was for a lovely Low to swing through bringing 20kt plus Sou’West winds but that’s not to be (it’s next weekend now, according to Windguru). Current forecast is.. Sou’Sou’East 6-14kts with a possible early morning shower, backing South 8-17kt by 10am and increasing 9-19kt for the rest of the day, before dropping off at around tea time. Sunny spells and a top temp of 17°C can be expected. High Tide is at 14.46hrs on a 5.7m, so not great with a bolt onshore wind and a mid-afternoon high to coincide with the better wind strength. River paddling will be ok though.
Sunday, Sou’Sou’West 8-15kt first thing with again the possibility of the odd shower during the morning (Guru say yes, Met say No) and then it drops back 6-14kt and swings Sou’West or poss. West’ Sou’West for the afternoon. Top temp again is 17°C and sunny spells, so it should be an OK weekend. Tide is High at 15.16hrs on a 5.4m, so it maybe be Ok for the Kite, Wing and Wind foilers
or a downwinder on a SUP.
And that’s it for this week’s ramble and for next week as well, due to being elsewhere next Friday but I reckon you all need a break anyhow. I’m now heading off for a walk in the dark and I trust you have a good evening lined up, whatever it is you’re getting up to. Back with the beach vid in the morning.
