Summer been, Demo in LA, New Wing package, Used Windy boards and Cheap SUP's R4U !
Oh dear oh dear.. well, Summer seems to have come and gawn, and just when it was starting to feel ‘warm’ again, but hey, at least we have a breezy Friday evening! Typically neither the wind or the hot weather are hanging around and by Sunday you might ‘think’ that all hope of sea breeze days are over.. but what the heck, let’s not worry, at least it’s the Weekend!
I’m sure all of those involved with the Kite and Wing Demo, taking place at Jamie Hawkins Beach Bar at LA (Littlehampton) will be absolutely gutted to see the current wind forecast and more so that the sun may dissapear as well (sales of liquid refreshment to a busy beach could be a money spinner, if the weather is nice). Fingers crossed they do get wind tomorrow afternoon and at least a glimpse of the sun and maybe wind on Sunday. If you do go along and see something you like, just let us know and we will see what we can do, supply and price wise.
Keeping it brief tonight, as getting to the point now that if the weather is ‘good’, you have to make the most of it and get out there!
We’ve added another Wing Foiling package from RRD to the website, which is the Year 27 Beluga LTE board, available in 105 and 125 (both in stock) with a choice of 1750²cm Universal or 1850²cm Blaze foils and wing options of 4.5m, 5.5m or 6.5m. Price is just £1699.00 but we still have a couple of the £1399.00 packages, if you are stretching the money pot to the limit. https://www.surfladle.com/board-and-foil-packages
Looking for a Used Windsurfing board to learn the art on? Look no further, as we’ve added a Fanatic Viper 80 (190lt with a daggerboard.. perfect!) to our website. It’s not at the shop but the owner is ‘on the beach’ and can be contacted direct. Do not be put off by scuffs and dings, as you will ‘use’ this board and better that you are not too precious about it, as the shingle beaches around here are murderous to epoxy boards and soft decks. More info here.. https://www.surfladle.com/boards/used-boards/fanatic-viper-80-newcomers-windsurf-board-used
Also added to the site today, a rare Fanatic Freewave Stubby 85lt in the sort after light weight Textreme construction, which was one of those boards people wanted to own but the price made it difficult to ‘obtain’. This one has a few dings but with a little love and a tube of resin, it will still sail as it did at it’s original price, for a fifth of the outlay. Again, it’s one that’s not at the shop but the owner is local (Worthing) should you wish to take a look.. https://www.surfladle.com/fantic-freewave-stubby-85lt-textreme-2017-used
The same customer also has a Quatro Super Mini 78lt, perfect for a 75kg rider looking for an easy to sail or 1st time wave board.. or something for the high wind days, if you are in the 90kg region. https://www.surfladle.com/quatro-super-mini-78lt-used
SUP, inflatable SUP, prices are down again ( just when we though the heat might get people back into the sport) and with some of the better known brands (not the ‘online’ rubber ducks but proper watersports company products) being almost half their original RRP, surely it’s worth the outlay to have that ‘get you out onto the water’ board in the boot of the car? Just saying.. prices start from £299.00 for the complete package https://www.surfladle.com/inflatable-boards/gladiator
So, with the weather on the change again, just in time for Glastonbury and Wimbledon, what is the Happy Forecast for this, the last weekend of June 2024?
Saturday kicks off with a 9kt Northerly wind, which at around 10am will start to turn and become Sou’West by the afternoon and if the Met is right 7-10kts or if Wind Guru win, it’s 8-12kt. Cloud in the morning but sunshine is possible in the afternoon.. perhaps a sea breeze will kick in and help the wind speeds out.. or have they forecast with that in mind? Tide is High at 17.59hrs on a 5.6m, so low tide around midday.
Sunday starts off with a Nor’West wind 8-14kts and that is where it stays for most of the day.. maybe a slight swing to West’Nor’West late afternoon. Nor’West winds are said to be the best direction for sea breezes to occur with, so keep your eyes on the anomometers, just in case the wind gods are looking after Jamie’s event. Tide is High at 19.02hrs on a 5.5m, so another perfect tide for afternoon fun at Shoreham, if there’s wind!
And that’s your lot. We are here all weekend, as we have been since September 1994, so I’m not sure how many weekends of our lives we’ve worked but .. I’m not going to count them now. Have a great weekend, whatever the weather!
