Wet but oh'so warm and yet more wind to come.. Wittering footage plus Covid has gone!

Strewth, yet another warm and wet Autumn week flies by..  must mean it’s time for a Weekend!

Quite noticeable how warm this November is proving to be. It’s being said that we are four degrees above the average for November and that it’s likely to continue, at least until the week after next, due to ongoing Low pressure coming in from the Atlantic. All very odd and if our lack of environmental care is the cause, that’s one heck of a burden to carry. But, it could just be a glitch, so you might as well enjoy it, as wind is forecast for the week to come. Still awaiting footage of the Friday Pro Sailors action at the West Wittering Classic, which we know will be forthcoming at some point but always worried that we might miss it. I was reassured that we hadn’t when Lucas Meldrum’s father, Phillip, came by this morning, as if anybody would know he would and.. he didn't. He did say that the final 'Final' move by Lucas and Andy Chambers, both 360'ing on a wave won't be on there, as filming had stopped just prior.  I will post a link, as soon as it’s ‘out there’ but it’s worth keeping an eye on the new Windsurfer Mag site and signing up for their newsletter.. just in case I mess up. Link to that is https://windsurfer.co/

Shop Opening. James had been telling people that the shop opening times would be ‘limited’ after the Clocks changed. Well, that’s not strictly true, as trying to let people know is almost impossible, especially after our meticulous time keeping during the last 31 years. I think we have probably only closed for maybe three days at short notice during all of that time, apart from Covid of course, but even then we were actually ‘in store’ for the whole lock down period (in hindsight, we should have taken a grant and sat on the beach! J ).  However, there is one date that does need to be noted, which is Wednesday the 19th, when the shop will be closed, as I have a prior engagement. If there are other days when a closure is necessary, I will post it and ask you all to pass it on, as I would hate for someone to make a special trip, only to find Closed on the door! Covid..

Thanks again for all of the GWS messages and so glad to say that I have now tested clear, even though I still feel 50%. It removes that awkward moment when informing customers entering the shop, that they do so at their own risk. I was quite amazed that only one person turned around and walked out.. most continued normally but I did keep the obligatory distance. I know it’s now seen as nothing more than a cold but both times I’ve had it, it felt as though it was going through the body hunting for your weak points, like an old injury or a medical issue, as I’ve noticed pains etc. that I’d forgotten about ages ago! Probably just me but I guess it could be a reason why it can be so hard on older people (no comments please) and those with ongoing medical issues. Anyway, mine has gone elsewhere,  it’s now a case of  ‘All Clear Here’. Weekend weather time..

Saturday, is not very exciting.  Nor’West 5-9kt first thing, backing West 6-11kt around midday and then backing Nor’West 6-9kt from mid-afternoon.  Looking on the bright side, they say that although overcast in the morning, it could be bright sunshine for the afternoon and a top temp of 15°C.. keep the shorts on! A perfect evening for bonfires and projectiles, unless you are on a bus in Birmingham. Tide hits High at 12.40hrs on a 6.5m, due the Beaver Supermoon that’s been in the news this week.. that I missed.. so plenty of water for river paddling. If you are..  please note the No Entry buoys along the West bank mudflats, in front of the houseboats. Twitchers will be wishing to see their prey at work.

Sunday, we have wind, all be it directly from the South.  Actually, I lie, as it’s Sou’Sou’West 11-21kt during the morning and then becoming South, which is ‘onshore’ 11-22kt during the afternoon. Put that with a 6.2m High at 13.26hrs and beach launching will become daunting. Been there, tried it, paid the price.  The day should start sunny with a top temp of 14°C but showers by dusk, so all in all, it could be a good day and it the forecast’s right, a great weekend .

That’s it for tonight. Back in the morning (I hope!) with the Beach Vid.

Cough…
