What a lot of weather, Goretti's on track, Sailing off and hopefully back!

And so,  another week in Frigid Beach World passes by! A deep freeze, followed by a lull, followed by a storm with a 10C spike and then back to freezing winds from the North. I never wanted to live in the Arctic..  thankfully it’s the weekend!

Respect, to any of you who’ve had to work outside this week just gone.. you deserve a weekend! There’s much talk about having it all thrown at you in a week but thankfully we did not have the snowfall that had been mentioned as a possibility (I thought it would… silly me). On the other hand, the rain brought flooding North of the Downs, which must have been worse when the tide hit High this afternoon, as the floods at Shermanbury Bridge and Henfield ‘stream’ were exceptional on my way in this morning. Goretti’s centre must have been pretty close to us, as the change in the wind pattern at around midnight was a definite ‘off’ and then back ‘on’, as caught by the Lancing weather station and its screenshot attached. Anyhow, enough of the weather, for now, as that will be something to talk about in a mo. How about boats..

If you, like a number of customers that we know, are currently considering packing the bags, renting the house and going ‘boating’, perhaps this book that might be of interest.. The Boat Life Manual. Here’s a snippet from the Press release..

“Are you dreaming of an escape? Do the sea, faraway places and remote anchorages call to you? Have you wondered what liveaboard cruising life is really like? British - Australian couple, Nick Fabbri and Terysa Vanderloo, untied from their home port of Conyer over a decade ago and have been liveaboard cruisers ever since. Sharing their journey via their popular YouTube channel, Sailing Ruby Rose, the couple have never shied away from showing off the high highs and the low lows ,of this waterborne lifestyle. The Boat Life Manual is the ultimate blueprint to modern day boat-life.”.

It's not a book we would stock, what with being on the retirement road but as Brendan Batty of Exploring Eden Media in Australia had taken the time to contact us, I thought it was well worth bringing it to light. You can buy a copy direct from Brendan via. https://exploringedenbooks.co/product/the-boat-life-manual/?wmc-currency=GBP

or from dear old Amazon, should you have a Kindle

Hope it’s of help if you are setting sail and now for the incoming weather, for this weekend and a bit about the coming week.

Saturday, will be a dry day and the current cutting Nor ‘West wind will die back from 12-20kts during the morning to 5-9kt by mid-afternoon. Air temp stays low at 4°C but will be warmer in the secluded sunny spots.. go find one! Tide is High at 16.07hrs on a 5.2m.

Sunday, all change as wet and windy weather returns, all be it from the Sou’Sou’East during the morning 16-33kt and increasing to 18-37kt during the afternoon, before backing Southerly during the evening. Air temp slowly starts to pick up but 7°C is the best we can expect (15 degrees higher than it was last Tuesday!)  Tide hits High at 17.04hrs on a 4.9m. The evenings are starting to get lighter but not enough to sail past 5pm, even if the sky is clear (Dusk was at 4.54pm today). Current sea temperature is now 7.5°C.

As for next week, Monday is looking good, as Sou’Sou’West 17-29kt throughout the day, with the air temp up at 10°C. Tuesday is currently looking wet, all day (there’s a surprise..) with 15-25kt Sou’Sou’West winds during the morning and then dropping off to 10-18kt in the afternoon. Wednesday is looking less windy but the wind should stay from the South and hang about all week, so warmer weather but typically wet. A week to keep an eye on the forecast.

And that’s it for this Friday evening. Please forgive any typos or grammatical errors.

I will be back in the morning with another shaking Shoreham Beach Video and any bits of news that I forgot to mention tonight.

It seems that the World is an angry place at the moment.. but let’s try and keep our little bit of it, happy. Have a great Winter Weekend everyone.
