What did you say.. Pro Fuse are there.. Gator 25 is almost here and it's a Biggy Tide this weekend!
That’s the last week of February done and from Saturday on, we are into Mad as a March Hare times, which is quite apt with the way the World seems to be going.. which also means it’s the Weekend!
Been away for a few days in the wetlands around Yeovil seeing family, which would have been nice if I’d not contracted a case of the lurgy before-hand, as lost my voice the 2nd day and that rather took the edge off it, as they say, or rather not say in my case. It’s not a big deal but I do hope the voice is back before Sunday, as James is off into the mountains of Spain for a few days, so I need to be able to ‘chat’ by then. So, what’s News this week..
Neil Pryde, based in Germany, now has stock of all sizes in their new Pro Fuse construction Atlas Power Wave Sail. They also have most sizes of their 3 batten Zone Pro Fuse wave sail (the others are due this coming March) and the Combat 4 batten wave version is to follow. Pro Fuse, is as it sounds, as they are Pryde’s version of a super lightweight sail to compete with the Pro models from companies such as Duotone, North and Severne. If any company knows about ‘light’, then it’s Neil Pryde as their slogan for years was ‘Light is Right. The advantages of the Pro Fuse range is that there’s less stretch from the Fused material when compared to conventional sail material and the Fused materials also saves weight (25% if the website is correct) so the rider ‘should’ find the sails to be more stable and much lighter to move around in the hands.. and in the air, which as all of us Pro’s will know.. cough.. is important. As one would expect, the sails are not exactly cheap.. the Atlas starts at £1039.00 for a 4.6m, the Zone at £969.00 for a 3.5m and the Combat from £899.00 for a 2.9m. The Atlas and Combats are on our website in all available constructions, should the Pro Fuse pricing be a bit too much, with the Zone to follow shortly. Hats off to Pryde, for their nice bright colours…

The more conventional 2025 Severne Gator Freewave/move sails are now live on the Severne website and the first shipment is due into the UK at some point during April. Prices start from £739.00 for a 4.5m and rise to £969.00 for a 7.5m. Might seem expensive but when you consider that a frothy coffee, a cup of tea and two slithers of Bakewell Tart cost me £17.80 yesterday, they might be value for money! A customer who pre-ordered a 6m Gator (not a Bakewell slice..) has just ordered a Dyno 105lt 2025, as his current Dyno does not match the sail.. and he’s right to do so! These things are important… anyone else got poorly matched kit as he may be selling his old 105?

There’s more new stuff on the way and sorry to just cover sails this evening, as obviously they will not be of interest to everybody! Anyhow, time has not been hanging about today and I think it’s just run out of the door, so I’d better get on with the Weekends Weather.
Saturday, the 1st of Mad March, will be a chilly but bright day. Wind speeds are given as 8-12kt Nor’East for the whole of the daylight period with clear skies. Top temp of 8°C in the shade and probably around 20°C in the Sun, if out of the wind. Tide is High at 12.07hrs on a 6.5m, so a good day for the estuary.. use the incoming Tide to help get you inland against the wind and then return with the outgoing Tide with the wind behind you… or if up late , just do a downwinder from Upper Beeding.
Sunday, the wind starts off the same as it was on Saturday but we should see the wind come around to the East during the afternoon, but only at 5-8kt so nothing to get excited about. Guru’s giving a 14 second wave period but at 0.4m wave height, so it’s hard to say whether it will come to anything.. fingers crossed! Again, a bright day and that’s how it looks to continue on the long-range forecast, for now. Tide is High at 12.47hrs on a 6.5m, so again another good day for River paddling.
And that’s it from the Megastore for another week. Think I’ve forgotten something ‘big’ and if it comes to me I will post what it was, or is, with the Saturday Shaky Beach Vid. Until then, have a great Friday evening and may your Weekend be one of fun, fun and more fun.
Long Live Fun!
