Wind not alone, BSLSC Raffle, More Clearance and the Argus asks!
Well, that’s another week done and dusted, with the weekend once more firmly in your sights and currently it’s looking like it should be a windy one, which is great but rarely does it come alone, so we have a rather wet outlook for the latter part. But more on that in a mo.
Brighton Surf Life Saving Club, have done an amazing amount of work with youngsters over the years, by teaching them how to stay safe and become ‘water-wise’, which is paramount when mucking about on their home beach. The club recently contacted us asking if we could donate a prize, as they have just launched their Christmas Raffle. Now, I don’t usually use the C word at this time of year but this is an exception worth making, as it’s for a good cause. There’s a good range of prizes to be won and it will be money well spent, whether you win or not. Tickets are available ‘on-line’ at Crowdfunder (wish they would use PayPal, as more people would probably donate if they did) and prices start from £5.00 for 5 tickets. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/bslsc-2025-prize-draw
We’ve added more clearance wetsuits to the website and this time it’s Gents summers.
You might be in luck if you fit into a size 48 S, 50 M or 52 L. There’s also a Junior shorty front zip suit in size 172 / 16, which is almost an Adult XS. If you see any of the suits at a better price, just let us know and we will match it.

We’ve been contacted by the Evening Argus re. the fishing net incident that took place a week or so ago. They’ve asked if we know of anyone that may have pictures and would be willing to talk to them about what happened. If that’s ‘You’, then message us and we will put you in contact with the Argus.
Forecast looks a little feisty for the later part of next week, if WindGuru are correct, as they show Thursday serving up gusts of wind which are in the Storm Force category, topping out at 60kt but then dissipating through Friday morning and going offshore for the weekend, which would be a shame, as it’s the BWA Wave contest at the Witterings next weekend. (Update at 6.45pm .. Guru have now backed it to 52kt for Thursday but they now show the Westerly wind hanging in there through to Saturday evening). The Met on the other hand say gusts of 29kt on Thursday and making no commitment for Friday, so a bit of a difference. I think they are both going to change as the week progresses, so keep your eyes on the forecast (as if you wouldn’t). And now for this weekends weather, which you would hope is close enough for the forecasters to be right.
Saturday, wind from the Sou’East at 15 to 20kts pretty much all day, staying dry and with a top temp of 16°C. Tide is High at 10.15hrs on a 5.8m, so Shoreham will be the place to be during the afternoon. Should be a dry day.
Sunday, the wind backs more to the South, 16-24kts during the morning and then increasing to 18-26kt when the rain arrives at midday and then up again to 23– 36kt during the afternoon. Both the Met and Guru are in agreement. Air Temp a bit cooler, at 15°C . High Tide is at 10.56hrs on a 6.0m, so again, Shoreham for the afternoon session of Blade Running. Rain then continues into Monday with stronger Sou’West winds of 19-38kts during the morning ,19-41kt during the afternoon before backing West’Sou’West and dropping back to 15-25kt during the evening. So, an exciting couple or so days ahead, if you can squeeze in a sicky on Monday.
And that's a rap for this week. I do actually have a home to go to (sadly no ramble tonight, as the wife is ‘sick’) and a meal to cook, so it’s Chow for now but back in the morning with the infamous Beach Vid. Have a lovely Friday evening!
